5 Morning Rituals for Success

5 Morning Rituals to Get Your Day off to the Best Start Ever!

I’m a writer. I write Science fiction, dabbling in Fantasy here and there. But I don’t do any writing until I finish my morning rituals.

What do I mean?

I used to work for Anthony Robbins. He taught us several amazing routines to get our day started on the right track. I still use some of his routines today while incorporating others that also seem to work well.

A brief background: I used to be a sports therapist with almost twenty years experience in that business, teaching healthy habits, better posture and correct walking patterns to my clients, along with performing deep tissue massage, propreoceptive neuromuscular facilitation, and osteopathic-like techniques. That was a mouthful. I just wanted to give you a quick credibility check.

I digress…

…and to the rituals we go.

~ Ritual One ~

Make Your Bed.

The first thing I do in the morning is make my bed. It’s quick and it’s easy. It tells your mind and body that you are ready to start the day. My son taught me this from his military training.

Why is this important? It only takes one minute and starts a healthy habit for the day. It’s a constructive and organized routine that equals movement, accomplishment, and it is your first “success” of the day. It’s the first goal you tackle, and the first goal you complete. I even read somewhere that making your bed in the morning kicks off a ripple effect to better overall decisions throughout your day. You’re taking the morning by the horns and telling the day that you are ready, in control, and are willing to achieve your goals.

The effect of this routine is priceless. It not only gives you a greater sense of well being, it also brings organization to your life — immediately. Believe it or not, the more you do this ritual, the more your thoughts and actions become organized. An organized room eventually leads to an organized home. An organized home reduces stress and creates a clarity of mind.

There’s a lot of “organized” in that last paragraph.

The best part? It only takes a minute to make your bed.

~ Ritual Two ~

Drink lemon water.

If you look up the benefits of lemon water, it will lead you to thousands of google results. This is something that Anthony Robbins taught me, and it’s something I do every morning.

Water should be the first thing you consume after waking up. Why? You’ve spent all night taking shallow breaths. Sometimes — and this isn’t for everyone — you may have spent a minute in the night not breathing at all, or snoring, or, or, or…

What has accumulated through the night with that type of breathing? Toxins. Lemon water is one of the quickest ways to detox and refresh your body, bringing more vitality to you within the first few minutes of your day.

Here is a short of what it does:

  • Boosts your immune system
  • Hydrates your lymph system
  • Wakes you up
  • Promotes healthier skin
  • Improves your mood
  • Detoxes your liver
  • Balances your pH level
  • Helps weight loss
  • Freshens your breath
  • Nourishes you with Vitamin C
  • Boosts your energy level
  • It’s antibacterial in nature, containing pectin fibers that help clean your colon
  • Aids with proper functioning of your central nervous system

So, the first thing one should do after making their bed is to get some filtered water, pour it in an 8 to 12 oz glass, and either place a drop of doTERRA’s lemon oil (like I do) in that glass of water, or cut an organic lemon in half, and squeeze that half of lemon into that glass of water.

Don’t gulp it down. Drink it slowly. Ideally, you want to enjoy it while doing the next ritual.

~ Ritual Three ~

Daily Gratification.

Grab a pen and paper, or your journal. Write ten things that you are grateful for in this moment. If you’re broke, be grateful that you have money. If you are rich, be grateful you have money. Do you see that? Just. Be. Grateful. What will it harm? Nothing. What will you gain? Everything.

I learned this from life coach, Lia Dunlap. Look her up.

Do you like the wind that is flowing through your window and touching your skin? Write that down and be grateful for it.

Here is a few from my list:

  1. I am grateful for the talk I had with my daughter last night.
  2. I am grateful that my counseling session yesterday as it helped me with my financial questions.
  3. I am grateful that my books are selling better than ever.
  4. I am grateful…

…you get the point. Gratitude is one of the best, if not the best, magnets to a more fulfilling life. The more you get into this habit, the more your life will transform. Don’t be afraid to open up when you are writing these gratitudes. And, try not to be surprised if you start to tear up. Tears cleanse the soul.

*Side Note that I learned from Lia Dunlap about goals: If you have goals that you would like to accomplish, then after you have completed your ten gratitudes, this is a good time to visualize the end result of your goal(s), feeling what you would feel when you accomplish your goal(s), imagine you have already achieved your goal(s) and placing yourself in the picture, and fill that picture with as much detail as possible.

~ Ritual Four ~

Even for just five or ten minutes. I exercise between twenty and forty minutes every morning. I exercise on something called the cellerciser, a specially made mini-trampoline that folds up and can be stored anywhere without hassle.

If you’d rather get outside and go for a ten, twenty, or sixty minute walk, then even better. Being in nature is one of the best ways to ground and re-energize, plus walking everyday is extremely healthy.

Whatever exercise you do, do it well and with intention to better your day. Always try to improve your daily exercise from one day to the next. Walk an extra mile today, or run an extra minute. The idea is to increase your activity from one day to the next. This tells your body, soul, and mind that you are increasing and improving your life.

~ Ritual Five ~

This is my favorite of all my rituals. Why? Because it tastes so dang good. Do this after you exercise.

If you have a blender or a vitamix, then this is for you. I like to change my smoothies up every so often as to not dull myself with the same ingredients every morning, but for this writing, I’ll just give you one recipe. A yummy smoothie I had recently:

  • 1 organic banana
  • 1 organic orange
  • A handful of organic strawberries
  • A handful of organic frozen strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon of grade B maple syrup (great mineral content)
  • 1 tablespoon of spirulina (a superfood)
  • A half a cup of organic coconut milk or filtered water (I use filtered water on most days)

~ Ritual 6 ~

I start writing. I’ve been able to improve my writing because of these basic rituals. I type faster regarding word count (how many words I can type an hour), plus I have a clearer, more organized mind. Overall, I simply can get more done throughout the day.

~ ~ ~

I know, I told you there were only 5 rituals. In truth, we have a dozen or more rituals we do daily, either consciously or unconsciously. The best rituals are the ones that start our day off right because it cascades into the rest of the day.

I hope this helped you a little bit or a lot. I wrote it as laymen as I could, so everyone could get the gist of my 5 morning rituals.

Also, remember to click on the heart after reading this. It gets more readers to this article and if you feel this article helped you in some way, then paying it forward is another good ritual to include, or continue, in your life.

Much Love!

I’m Concerned. In the Genes? Vaccines?

I’m a Science Fiction writer. Take this article with a grain of salt. The truth is, I don’t know. I’m just a concerned parent.

What I’m about to show you isn’t Science Fiction at all. It’s what’s happening today, and it’s shocking. This is about autism. So, if you just want to skip this article, then please do. If you want to keep reading, then remember, take this with a grain of salt.

By the rate at which autism is growing, MIT Senior Research Scientist, Stephanie Seneff, PhD, claims that by 2025, every 1 in 2 children born in the United States of America will be autistic.

Read that again.

By 2025, 1 in every 2 children will be autistic. That’s half of all children. Half.

That wasn’t the case in 1980, where rates of autism in the United States was 1 in 10,000.

In 1990, the rate was 1 in 250.

In 2000, according to the CDC, the rate was 1 in 150.

In 2004, according to the CDC, 1 in 125.

In 2008, according to the CDC, 1 in 88.

In 2012, according to the CDC, 1 in 68.

In 2017, the year in which I’m writing this, the CDC reports that 1 in 50 American children are now diagnosed with autism.

If I was writing a Science Fiction post-apocalyptic thriller, this could be the disease or the condition that causes the massive change. Whatever your position on autism is, weather you think it’s because of vaccines or environmental toxins or because of genes creating a neurological disease, please understand one thing, this autism increase is alarming.

The rate at which autism is spiking is almost unheard of. It’s matching the rate of cancer and heart disease. Yes, the spike is that dramatic. If it’s because of our genes, then someone or something is manipulating our gene pool, rewiring our genes so quickly that our species will forever change the way it interacts, communicates, and ultimately lives — if we can live. A switch has occurred in our children’s DNA that prevents them from fully functioning in the world to the point that those “1 in 2 people born after 2025” will find driving nearly impossible, holding a job very difficult, and basic communication almost impossible. After 2025, half of the population will need to take care of a family member with autism.

Today, we are afraid of global warming, cancer, obesity. Tomorrow, global warming, cancer, obesity, and autism.

Many doctors agree that autism is manipulation or something gone wrong in a child’s genes.

What is a genetic disease? According to MedicineNet, “genetic diseases are the direct result of a mutation in one gene. However, one of the most difficult problems ahead is to find out how genes contribute to diseases that have a complex pattern of inheritance, such as in the cases of diabetes, asthma, cancer and mental illness. In all these cases, no one gene has the yes/no power to say whether a person has a disease or not. It is likely that more than one mutation is required before the disease is manifest, and a number of genes may each make a subtle contribution to a person’s susceptibility to a disease; genes may also affect how a person reacts to environmental factors.”

In the thousands and thousands of years that humanity has been on the planet, suddenly within the last forty years we see an increase of a genetic disease that has the ability to permanently alter the brain so intensely that it changes the very makeup of how we observe, communicate, and interact in the world. This manipulation is so prevalent, that it is now jumping into gene pools that have never had it before, multiplying at a rate so quickly, that stopping it seems impossible.

And, with very few exceptions, it only hits children. It didn’t hit children in the 1920’s, the 1930’s, 1940’s or the 1950’s like it did starting in the 1960’s, where cases began showing themselves in underwhelming numbers.

They are now in overwhelming numbers.

In 2025, at the rate genes are manipulating, autism will flood the United States. It will be “just another disease”. We’ll look at it the way we look at cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

This pisses me off. Why? Because it means my children’s children are very likely to have autism…if it’s truly because of the genes.

I’m not so sure it’s genes, though.

Unless, like a post-apocalyptic Science Fiction book, our DNA is back-firing on us, manipulating itself to the point of utterly changing our central nervous system, our brain’s neurology, and even our digestive system’s biological process.

In 2010, the EPA verified a study they conducted in 1990. In 1988/1989 autism suddenly increased by ten fold — in one year. The EPA labelled this the “ChangePoint Year”. As you read above, autism was 1 in 10,000 children in the United States in 1980. Sometime between 1988 and 1989, the human genome went through a major adjustment, and autism rates skyrocketed to 1 in 250 children.

It’s very similar to cancer spike pockets in rural areas, or towns, in the United States that sit right next to a toxic sludge factory or a nuclear plant, which, after years and years of debate, research, and litigation, the cancer spikes were finally found to be caused by toxic sludge being pumped into the rural town’s rivers or into the air by a factory whose fucked-up, piece of shit owner could care less who was affected by his factory’s pollution, because his pockets were thick with profit, and nothing should bother his bottom line.

*Side note: I had a friend — who never smoked — die at age 35 from lung cancer caused by one of these factories, so I’m a little over sensitive.*

Environmental illness/disease, defined by WebMD, “can occur when you are exposed to toxins or substances in the environment that make you sick. These health hazards may be found where you live, work, or play…exposure to some types of chemicals can cause an environmental illness. The more of the chemical you are exposed to, the more likely you are to get ill. Examples include:

A study conducted by the World Health Organization claims 24% of all disease is caused by environmental exposure.

So, why aren’t we looking at this possibility with autism?

Doctors are quick to point out that children are born with autism, saying that this genetic neurological disease doesn’t develop until the child is between 12 months and 18 months.

The onset of autism, in many cases, first begins with a fever. Usually, the fever lasts one or two weeks. As the fever subsides, the child loses coordination, his/her walking ability halts, speech stops, eye contact ceases, high pitched screaming begins, severe diarrhea starts, and in many cases, they begin banging their head.

There are many spectrum’s. Some are severe. Some not so severe. It all has one thing in common , though— a child’s neurology is impacted for life.

The majority of doctors have ruled out vaccines, mercury or aluminum poisoning, pesticides, genetically modified organisms, and other possible environmental toxins.

Some doctors have not.

Let’s look at vaccines.

In 1986, President Ronald Reagan passed a vaccine compensation bill “with mixed feelings’’ because he had “serious reservations”. It was a bill that the Justice Department strongly urged President Reagan to veto. The bill brought forth the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA).

The NY Times reported that President Reagan said “there were ‘substantial deficiencies’ in the vaccine plan, under which injured people could obtain payments from the government without proving fault or wrongdoing by the vaccine manufacturer or anyone else.”

The vaccines companies, the pharmaceutical industries, and the vaccine manufacturers were no longer at fault or liable for any injury, paralysis, or death caused by a vaccine. If a court found guilt in a vaccine, causing an injury or death to a child, adult, or the elderly, the tax payers would foot the bill.

Remember, the bill was passed in 1986.

In 1988, the vaccine schedule increased. Why? Because the vaccine manufacturers were no longer liable for any injury their vaccine may cause. Since each vaccine brought in on average 10–20 billion dollars a year, vaccine companies created more and more vaccines, bringing them out at a hefty rate.

In 1988/89, the famous EPA ChangePoint Year occurred where a jump from 1 in many thousands of children diagnosed with autism to 1 in 250 children diagnosed with autism virtually appeared over night.

The CDC reported nothing. No connection.

Perhaps there wasn’t a connection at all.

According to a lead scientist at the CDC, Dr. William Thompson, there was. He claimed, “We scheduled a meeting to destroy vaccine-autism study documents.” This is according to a testimony in a senate hearing by Representative Bill Posey, R-Florida.

In another senate hearing, a head doctor at the CDC, Dr. Boyle, was asked if a study of vaccinated vs unvaccinated children was ever conducted to see if there is a difference with autism rates between the two. She said no study was ever conducted.

Why not? What is the harm?

Does this mean that vaccines cause autism. No. Could they have some type of effect on a child regarding autism? Perhaps, but we won’t know. We won’t know until they research it. Have they researched it? According to the CDC, they have not.

Okay, moving on.

Another potential environmental factor could be glysophates, which is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide and crop desiccant. It is an organophosphorus compound, specifically a phosphonate. It is used to kill weeds, especially annual broadleaf weeds and grasses that compete with crops. It was created by the now evil-labeled company, Monsanto.

Glysophates have been found in over 160 countries, the biggest toxic load in the United States. It has been sprayed on over 250 crops. It’s everywhere.

Can it be a reason for autism? I don’t know. It surely is for cancer. In a March, 2017 court ruling, California is one step closer to placing a cancer warning label on all of Monsanto’s Roundup products. It’s a carcinogen. It’s now one of many contributors to environmental disease. If it can manipulate genes to cause cancer, why can’t it manipulate genes to cause autism? Why hasn’t this been studied, either? And, if it has, where is the CDC in all of this? Will they be in the thick of things? Most likely not.

If I’m correct — and don’t take my word on it — autism is not a genetic disease. It’s an environmental disease. If you can spot a gene pool in nature that has mutated in such fashion and as quickly as autism, then is it genetic or environmental?

In almost all cases, it’s environmental, and human caused.

Look at cancer. We have found that a huge amount of cancer is caused not only by genes, but by environmental exposure as well. The more and more we are studying cancer, the more we are upping the percentage from genetically caused to environmentally caused.

In the past, childhood cancer was unheard of. Today, it isn’t.

In the past, autism was unheard of. Today, it isn’t.

I’m not doctor, so take everything that I have to say with a grain of salt.

All I want is to hard press the sciences and hard press the medical industry to figure this out. Let’s do some in depth research and get the pharmaceutical companies OUT of that research. We owe it to our children, and to our children’s children. We owe it to all of those who have autism and to all of their brave parents who love them, take care of them, and love them some more.

We once lived in a world free of environmental toxins, in a world free of environmental disease. I truly think we get back to that environment again, and soon.

Again, take all of what I have to say with a grain of salt. I’m a damn Science Fiction writer, not a doctor. I’m also just a concerned parent, looking for the best possible future for our children.

Much Love,

Brandon Ellis
